Part 2. A test of your driving ability.
Is your eyesight good enough? Can you read a car number plate at 26.5 metres? To pass this part of the test you MUST drive to a high standard of competence, demonstrating the principles of eco-friendly driving, and a well planned, positive drive. The “Test of Your Driving Ability”. This part cannot be taken locally. The test centre structure in the whole of the UK is currently in the process of change and it is unclear which would be the closest test centre in six months time.
You do not have to wait until you have passed Part 1 before you commence training for Part 2. It can be started at any time convenient to you. Several Schools will charge a set price of up to £3,000, in advance, for ADI training. For your convenience we will charge you for each session as we go, it makes it easier for you to budget. Each session will be in multiples of 1 hour, each hour will cost £30. If you wish to undertake the program in tandem with your regular work, it may be more convenient for you to train in a block of 4 hours as one session, say at the weekend. If you choose to train in 4 hour sessions we could give you a discount so each 4 hour session would cost £100. However for the calculation of your total costs we will assume that you elect to have hourly sessions.
Any sponsoring Driving School that you train with will have to complete an “Instructor Training Declaration”, This will verify that you have completed a minimum training program of at least 40 hours. This would mean a cost to you of £1200. Minimum. (If you need an extra 10 hours it would mean an extra £300.)
All of this tuition would be in one of our School cars correctly fitted with dual controls and insured for the purpose of pupils training, any fuel used would be covered by your costs. All tuition would ideally be on a one-to-one basis, however as your training progresses we will suggest that your session is joined by another trainee. This would help with your training towards your “Trainee Licence”.
The cost of the Part 2 test is currently £99.00 for each attempt, and is payable by yourself.
